Djibouti City

The city of Djibouti is an ideal place for excursions into the sea. It also serves as the base when you are back from your excursions. There are a number of restaurants, hotels and bars here which will give you a feel like any other city. There is a cultural contradiction here which will make you instantly fall in love with the place.

Lake Assal


Lake Assal is the largest salt water reserve in Djibouti and is 155 meters above the sea level. It is the second lowest land depression on Earth after the Dead Sea. It is widely considered as a national treasure and the views around the lake are stunning.

Tadjoura

The oldest town on the east coast of Africa, Tadjoura is also called White town because of the whitewashed homes in the town. It offers great views of the waterfront and is ideal for strolling in the late afternoons. You will notice a number of locals out and about in the evening. It has a relaxing vibe and there are mosques to see.

Ali Sabieh

This is one location which is surrounded by desert on all the sides. You will sight markets, narrow alleys and food stalls inside the city. It is the rugged Africa at its best. If you want to see the desert, check out Petit Bara and Grand Bara. There are challenging walking trails in the entire area and it is known for wind surfing.

The Gulf of Tadjoura

Surrounded by Goda Mountains, the Gulf of Tadjoura is the best spot for diving and snorkeling. It has a height of upto 1300 meters and attracts most tourists throughout the year. There are beautiful vistas to sight in Tadjoura.

Gobaad Plain

The plain is located between Lake Abhe and Hanle Plain which is an ideal place for bird watchers. It is the only place with an active breeding ostrich population. You will be able to spot Arabian Bustard, Crombec, Black Crown Sparrows, Sand grouses and more. Nature lovers absolutely love visiting the Gobaad plain.

Doral and Khor Ambado

These are the two beaches located at a distance of 15 km from the city. You can indulge in water sports here or simply enjoy swimming. The sunset view from here is one of the best in the country. If you want to relax and unwind, you will never go wrong here.

Tropical Aquarium

One of the best aquariums in all of Africa, it is one of the countrys top tourist draws. It makes you feel like you are underwater in the Red Sea and taking a look at marine life in the unique body of water. You can plan your visit with a stop at Marche Central, a lively market here.
